Based in Wudaokou area of Beijing — the heart of China’s academic environment — thinkINchina (TIC) started in 2010 as small group of young researchers. Fast forward to today, TIC is a lively community of experts seeking intellectual growth.
The community embodies the quest for deep meaning, all the way down to the TIC acronym and logo. TIC stands for “Talks”, “Ideas” and “Community” — which are core values rigorously upheld by today’s growing base of community members. The logo is a combination of Chinese characters signifying “Gate”, “Discussion”, and “Country”. Aptly designed, TIC is indeed “a gate through which to discuss China and other countries.”
To generate an environment of respectful discourse, TIC encourages thoughtfulness and listening. Mass-media portrayals of international affairs are commonly riddled with bias and hidden agenda. To gain perspective, TIC considers China-related issues from diverse perspectives — maintaining open conversation inspired by mutual respect.
TIC is Beijing’s Intellectual community for China-focused academics who seek to a higher standard of discourse.
